Alexander Preko (PhD) - Team Lead

Alexander Preko is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Marketing, University of Professional Studies, Ghana. He won the West Africa 2020 Science Communication award of Conversation Africa, the Ghanaian author who made the most contributions to the site, (2020) He is actively involved in the analysis of quantitative and qualitative dataset from tourism, migration and marketing projects. He was the consultant for career pathways development for the Ghanaian Tourism and Hospitality sector in 2020 which was funded by the International Labour Organization (ILO). Also, he was the consultant for Skill Strategy & Action Plan Development for Ghana’s Oil and Gas Sector Skills Body and Textile and Apparel Sector, funded by ILO.

He consulted for the Ministry of Labor and Employment Relations, Ghana in developing an Action plan for the Labor Market Information System, which was funded by Skills Initiative for Africa (SIFA) and supervised by ILO, Ghana Office. Dr Preko also serves as a consultant for GIZ on training Sector Skills Bodies (SSBs) on reporting and interpretations of LMIS.  He was the chief data analyst and the consultant who developed the Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) for the banking sector of Ghana, 2021. He holds a PhD in Economics (Tourism-Migration Management) from Moscow State University of Management.

He is a visiting Professor of Marketing at the Nobel International Business, Accra for qualitative and quantitative research methods and has also initiated several training on statistical software analysis (SPSS, STATA, Nvivo), both at the institutional and corporate levels. He has written a book entitled “Step-by-step SPSS Data Analysis”. He is editorial board member of SN Social Science of Springer publisher. Dr Preko also published in peer-reviewed and ranked journals of Emerald insight, Sage, Taylor and Francis, Inderscience, Springer and others. He is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Economist, Ghana and Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana. His main research interests are tourism marketing, migration-tourism and migration.
